Risk Management
Are you protecting yourself and your staff?
- On average 1.5 working days were lost overall per worker due to work-related ill health or workplace injury.
- Statistics suggest that the rate of fatal and serious injury is double the rate in small workplaces compared with those in large workplaces
- Company directors can be imprisoned for serious health and safety breaches that may happen in their Company.
You have stringent duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act to keep your employees both safe and not to expose them to situations which could damage their health. Let Eden HR assist you in minimising the risk whilst making sure your staff are healthy and productive.
There is a great deal of legislation with respect to Health & Safety, and these laws are strictly enforced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The HSE are one of only two government bodies that carry the power of a standing warrant, the other being Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs. In short an HSE Officer can enter you premises, by force if necessary, without seeking authorisation from a Judge. HSE Officers also have the power to impose prohibition notices. These notices can close your
business on the spot!
Setting up a Health & Safety framework for your business may well require external help in ensuring that the framework is
legally compliant. After this point most of the every day work, such as risk assessments, just requires some forethought and planning.
The importance of good Health & Safety policy can not be emphasised highly enough as when enforcing legislation the HSE
look to prosecute the ‘controlling mind’ behind the cause of any infringements or accidents. This tactic is aimed squarely at company directors by threatening them with imprisonment for any serious Health & Safety breaches that may occur in their company.
